His Story

October 11, 2018. 1:58am Peace in the midst of deep sorrow. Twenty hours of a grueling labor, we welcomed our baby boy into our arms. Gabriel Ashley, “Gabe”. Gabriel meaning “God is my strength” and Ashley is my husband’s middle name. Born in the quiet hours of the morning, without the bright lights and smiling faces, no baby cries and hustle and bustle of a nursing team ready to greet life that has come. Silence met sorrow and broken hearts and grief in a dimly lit room, 156. It was intimate and peaceful. Every little detail, a reminder that God is here. He cares. He knows. The foremost. The friend. Composer, companion. He is God of creation, and God of the bedside.
